Here are the six tips for fibromyalgia and pregnancy that I have come up with. I created these tips through basically all of my reading over the last four years and my experience.
Fibromyalgia and Pregnancy
These tips are presented to you by a fibromyalgia sufferer woman just like anyone of you. She is not a health professional but she is sharing her experiences in order to help others.
Knowledge is Power
The first one is to arm yourself with knowledge. The more knowledge we have, the better and we are to deal with it.
Take Care of Your Body
The second one for fibromyalgia and pregnancy is to get your body in the best place possible before conceiving. Obviously, we have to go off a lot of fibromyalgia pain types medicines and learn to cope naturally. So that’s good if we have managed to do that beforehand and if we’re not in a flare before we get pregnant.
Rest and Sleep
The third is to prioritize rest and sleep. That’s also something I write a lot about. Meditation as key for me because I don’t sleep very well at all. I can’t nap at all. So that’s my big tip.
Nourish Your Body
The next is to nourish your body with good food and appropriate fibromyalgia supplements. I mean that’s a big tip for living the fibromyalgia and pregnancy anyway. I feel like we can really impact our pain levels with what we consume. Get a pain management plan in place. So you have to discuss with your doctor what medicines you cannot come off, what you can and get your natural pain management mechanisms in place.
Fibromyalgia and Pregnancy Pain Relief
Natural pain management mechanisms are so necessary. Things that you can just do any time of the day. Something I use all the time as my heat pack. I love warm baths and long showers. My favorite thing in the world would be to have a hot tub.
The Plan
The sixth and final tip for fibromyalgia and pregnancy is to make a plan for the final trimester delivery in the first six weeks. This involves a good support system. This is really important after I have done it twice. I really appreciated having the lists, I created for myself in the third trimester. So, I was not sleeping very well. I was feeling not very happy. So it was really nice to have my list really made of all the things I could do to make myself feel a little better.
Fibromyalgia and Pregnancy Labour
I think the second I was going into delivery having a sense of what I could do in the early labor period and what would happen was really helpful. The first time I was really flying blind. In the first six weeks that is really great to have company. The second time I had my husband home and it made all the difference in the world. When you are fighting a tiny baby, you are exhausted and you are trying to make milk.
Off You Go!
So those are my six tips for fibromyalgia and pregnancy. I really wanted to make this first-time accessible for everybody who’s been reading out there. I just really wanted to give this information up there.
Hopefully, these six tips have got you started and give you a direction of where to research. If you’re considering pregnancy or if you already are. You can head on over to our Facebook Group if you want to have a chat with other Mama’s who are doing pregnancy with fibromyalgia.

I am not a health professional, I only know what works for me. I share my journey so that people would know the things they can try, in discussion with their medical team. We are a long way from the world in which I received my diagnosis, it was a hostile world where no one I knew believed in fibro/CFS and there was little information. I always expect that you will do your own research and will chat with your own team of medical professionals.
Therefore, all readers of this content, especially those taking prescription or over-the-counter medications, should consult their physicians before beginning any medication.
